Being a Raizada bahu isn’t just about smiles and sarees. When tradition meets drama—and a certain husband with a soft spot for his wife—fireworks are inevitable.

Shantivan – Living Room – Morning
The family was gathered after breakfast. Nani had just finished her morning prayers, and Mamiji was unusually chirpy.
Mamiji (loudly):
“Toh Nani ji, ab toh Khushi bitiya ki nayi bahu rasmein shuru ho hi jaani chahiye, nahi?”
Nani (smiling):
“Haan Manorama, sahi keh rahi ho. Aaj se humari nayi bahu pariksha shuru hogi.”
Khushi, who was passing by with a tray of juice, stopped mid-step.
Khushi (confused):
“Pariksha?”
Anjali (teasing):
“Haan Khushiji! Raizada family ki har nayi bahu ko ye rasmein nibhaani padti hain. Aur Mamiji toh examiner hain!”
Mamiji (grinning):
“Hello hi, bye bye! Tayyar ho jao, Miss Lukhnow!”
Khushi blinked nervously.
Khushi:
“Devi Maiyya… aapke bina toh main fail hi ho jaungi!”

Ritual 1: The Saree Test
Mamiji laid out five sarees of different types.
Mamiji:
“Pehchaaniye – kaunsa silk hai, kaunsa georgette, aur kaunsa Banarasi.”
Khushi’s eyes widened like saucers.
Khushi (murmuring):
“Yeh toh exam se bhi mushkil hai!”
Just then, Arnav walked by. He paused, listening, and gave a small smirk.
Arnav:
“Need help, Mrs. Raizada?”
Khushi (whispering):
“Aapko pata hai Banarasi aur georgette mein farak?”
Arnav (leaning closer):
“Tumhare liye main Google ban jaaunga.”
She bit back a giggle.
Khushi somehow guessed them all right—thanks to a secret whisper or two from her husband.
Mamiji (grumbling):
“Cheating thi yeh!”
Arnav (folding his arms):
“Intelligence recognize karna bhi ek art hai, Mamiji.”
Mamiji narrowed her eyes.

Ritual 2: Cooking Without Fire
Mamiji:
“Aur ab… bina chulhe ke ek special dish banao.”
Khushi:
“Arre waah! Yeh toh aasan hai. Jalebi time!”
She whipped out milk powder, sugar, cardamom, and began shaping tiny malai ladoos. In no time, the table was filled with aromatic, delicate sweets.
Anjali (impressed):
“Wah Khushiji! Aap toh sach mein perfect bahu nikli!”
Arnav watched from the staircase, pretending to read his phone. But the proud little smile on his lips was unmistakable.

Later That Night – Bedroom
Khushi collapsed onto the bed dramatically.
Khushi:
“Aaj toh laga jaise viva ho gaya ho!”
Arnav (placing his laptop aside):
“Tum toh pass ho gayi. Flying colors mein.”
Khushi (rolling her eyes):
“Flying colors ke saath flying taunts bhi sunne pade!”
Arnav (leaning down, softly):
“Kya karein… meri biwi sabse alag hai.”
She smiled, her eyes sparkling.
Khushi:
“Lagta hai aapko bhi pariksha deni chahiye.”
Arnav (raising an eyebrow):
“Mujhe? Kis cheez ki?”
Khushi (grinning):
“Mujhe impress karne ki.”
Arnav leaned closer, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.
Arnav (huskily):
“Challenge accepted.”
